Design system

The design system at Canopy was a side project. We didn’t have one, but we needed one, so I built one. It followed the atomic design methodology of atoms, molecules, organisms, templates, and pages, but we also had contents, brand, imagery, and documentation sections, as well as Apple, Google, and Microsoft components. This design system evolved throughout the project, and whenever screens were marked as ready to build, the engineers could reference all of the component parts in the design system.

Mobile App

This was a 0-1 stage start-up, backed by Ford, successfully releasing a new hardware and software product to market, in the vehicle security space. My role was to take a hardware prototype and a software concept, and then expand upon the concept, design, prototype, test and validate those designs and ideas, and then deliver engineer ready high fidelity flows, accompanied by a new design system built from the ground up.

Hydrogen has huge potential, but there are a number of challenges. I was hired to work in a small cross disciplined team, and tasked with getting under the surface of the hydrogen process, from extraction to consumption. We had to identify all of the different people involved at each stage, their jobs to be done, and then surface and visualise all of the different types of data available, so that improvements and efficiencies could be made.

SaaS Platform

Working with a team of data scientists on a digital transformation project, I was hired to assist on two parts of their new SaaS platform, Performance Drivers, and Revenue Premium. This role involved research, exploration, workshops, ideation, a minimum viable product, visual design, user testing, synthesising feedback, sharing insights, prioritising, iterating, testing again, validating, engineering, and shipping.

This was a short booking at the end of the year to help in the generation of ideas for a new iOS App called Espresso. A rich, full-flavoured shot of daily global analysis from the editors of The Economist. This was predominantly a visual design role, with a focus on reusable components.

Marks & Spencer used to have a mobile site, a tablet site, a desktop site, and an in-store touch screen site. Each site had a different navigation, design, and user experience. I was tasked with reviewing all of the existing design and UX across all devices, then putting forward a new fully responsive proposal, incorporating a new brand guideline.

I was the Senior Designer on the House of Fraser project while working at DigitasLBi. As well as the main pages, we also did a lot of work around the checkout section of the website, making sure that we had done everything we could to minimise any potential user dropout. This project ran alongside the Hamley's website, who were using the same set of wireframes.

My first role out of university was at a new digital marketing agency, on a mission to give bands and musicians a space on the internet for the first time. I was hired as their first designer to create websites for artists like Blur, Paul Weller, Radiohead, and Coldplay. As well as designing the odd piece of album artwork, I also won four digital music awards in one year.
